Anyone can tell you moving is stressful. The huge amount of things to do, the increasing entropy, and the inability to find anything after it's packed drives most people crazy, myself included.
Apparently, moving has a similar affect on dogs. When it was time to empty the house, Laila paced around, puzzled and whining. We thought things were improving as we drove the two days to Washington. Laila snoozed her way from state to state, curled up in between the bucket seats of our moving truck. When we arrived at my parents' house, however, the tranquility vanished.
Now Laila's been having anxiety issues. So long as she can see one or the both of us, she's the same contented pup she always was. The minute we go upstairs or to the bathroom without her, she shakes and whines. If we're gone more than 5 minutes, the whining picks up to a frantic bark that lasts for an hour or until we come back, whichever happens first.
She's supposed to fly 21 hours with us in six days. Anyone have any quick fixes for separation anxiety?
